Shibe Park was home to the Philadelphia Athletics and later the Phillies, a classic brick ballpark opened in 1909 that defined Philadelphia baseball for more than half a century. S. Preston captures that piece of Philadelphia baseball history in this officially licensed minimalist art print. As seen in ESPN and Sports Illustrated. A must-have for any Philadelphia baseball fan or the perfect gift for the collector who appreciates the golden age of the sport.
OFFICIALLY LICENSED ARTWORK OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL.
Team: Philadelphia Phillies
Artist: S. Preston
Variant: Beaux Arts Tower
Phillies (and Athletics) fans entering the ballpark through the home plate entrance of Shibe Park, saw one of the most grandest facades at any ballpark ever built. An octagonal Beaux Arts tower was at the main entrance, housed a lobby and offices for team executives. Connie Mack made many renovations over the years to upgrade the ballpark, including changing the name to his own namesake.
